So I go out tonight and am finally on my way home in the GTP. It is after midnight and the roads are empty, I want to get home as soon as possible to get some sleep. As I get closer to home, I wind up at a very long red light. Caring only about the unreasonably long red light ahead of me, I think nothing of the few cars around me. As I take off, not fast, but gently accelerating, I notice a very strange noise coming from the car to my left. I also notice that it seems to be almost keeping pace with me. So I finally figure out it is a fart cannon attached to a last gen Eclipse... at that point I feel a little nostalgic for days gone by and give it some more throttle and expand my lead ahead of him. I figure all is done for the night and wind down at the next red light. I notice he seems to be a little anxious, and I am curious to see if he can beat me... me in my bone stock, thrice damaged, GTP. So as the light turns again, I give it a little more gas than usual for the launch, and then begin to lay down on the pedal... I am ahead by a great distance (about 3 lengths) which is impressive to me since I am not launching at anything near full speed. His car all the while making a high pitched screaming noise... sounded much faster than it was. After that I feel I have made my point and coast about at my usual speed, he matches pace about 4 lengths behind. We come up on the police who have already pulled over a speeder (obey traffic laws!) and I slow down and move in behind him. It is at this point I notice that this blue coupe has clear tail lights (and brake lights?) and is an RS model. As I end my trip I decide to have a little fun... after moving into the right lane and passing him (neither of us fast this time) I come up my turn. As I approach I decide to turn on my flashers. What went through his head at this, I can only guess, but as soon as I did, I heard the familiar screaming sound and watched as he tried to pass me... even as I was making my turn he was still trailing.

Man, I don't think I have done that in years... Granted it wasn't much on my part, but fun none the less. And to think of the embarrassment my Camaro would have done in the same situation.... but then again, with that one, i would never have been able to hear his fart cannon.

Oh well. It was not much of an incident. But it left me recalling the days a few years past when this was an almost everyday occurrence. But I guess I have grown a little too old for it.

Envy. I haven't had anyone even attempt to race me since I painted the car and put the supercharger on, and all the other stuff... though most of this time has been spent in CA, not SC where I had the bottle open every day. Days of fun are gone... and I'm 25 now... guess my racedar has shut off and that's why my insurance rates went down?
